Job Description

The University of Montevallo's College of Fine Arts invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Mass Communication to teach undergraduate multimedia journalism courses, including (but not limited to): Newswriting and reporting for digital, print, broadcast and emerging platforms; Digital content production for websites and social media; Associated Press style and copy editing; Layout and design for digital and print publications; Shooting and editing video for digital and broadcast platforms; and Public relations writing. Essential Job Duties This position requires: Clear evidence of effective teaching and an established ability to engage with students at all levels through a variety of pedagogical methods. Clear evidence of the ability to engage students in collaborative and creative storytelling. Scholarly and creative productivity that support the experiential portfolio in the Mass Communication program. Participation in academic advising, recruitment and retention initiatives, service, and committee work, specifically to assist in growing the program. Education and Experience Ph. D. or M.F.A. in journalism or mass communication. ABD candidates will be considered. Professional experience working as a journalist. Preferred Education and Experience Professional experience in public relations and/or social media administration
