Position Information Position Title Assistant Professor of History Job Summary The Department of History and Political Science seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in History to begin on January 1, 2026. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in History, with a concentration in either Africana history, African American history, U.S. History, or African history. Scholars in public history and historic preservation are encouraged to apply with the expectation that they will teach a future graduate course in Historic Preservation. Essential Job Duties Responsibilities include teaching four history classes (12 hours per semester); engaging in scholarly research; serving on committees; advising students; and performing other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.
