We are seeking a faculty member with the potential to establish an innovative and impactful research agenda in public health, with a primary focus on disaster impact and recovery, environmental health, or aging. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in one or more of these areas, with an emphasis on artificial intelligence-related research and/or health informatics, complementing and enhancing our department's existing research strengths. The candidate will contribute to excellence in health sciences teaching, mentoring, and advising. Candidates with expertise that bridges public health with environmental science, engineering, data science, or social sciences are highly desirable. The successful candidate will have opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across the university, pursue convergent research initiatives, and contribute to the academic community's broader mission of innovation, resilience, and sustainability. Responsibilities Develop and maintain a robust, externally funded research program. Work cooperatively and effectively with Chapman collaborators in the fields of environmental health, disaster resilience, or other areas to foster collaborative research and enhance student learning experience. Teach in area(s) of expertise and curricular need. Candidates are expected to provide academic, professional, and research mentorship to HSCI students. Perform academic and professional service at a level commensurate with rank. Faculty workload is 50% research, 50% teaching. Tenure-track faculty are expected to develop and maintain an active research agenda for future tenure consideration and are evaluated on their research/scholarly activity, teaching, and service. Ph.D. in Public Health, Environmental Health Sciences, Health Policy, Epidemiology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution. Established record of scholarly publications. Evidence of (or potential for) securing external research funding. Demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and engagement with local communities. Strong communication skills and the capacity to contribute to the department's strategic initiatives. Evidence of teaching and mentoring undergraduate students is highly desirable.
