Position description Merrill College at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of lecturers who may be appointed to teach a course or courses that contribute to one or more of the college's long-standing interests. These include social justice, public service, and understanding intersections between developed and developing worlds. Applicants should be able to draw from expertise in arts, engineering, humanities, physical and biological sciences, or social sciences. Applicants with the following qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply: (1) professional experience in social justice or public service organizations or professional experience in arts or media production (e.g., theater, film, journalism; (2) university-level teaching experience as instructor of record or teaching experience with courses that are organized around fieldwork, service learning, or experiential education; and (3) a demonstrated record of working effectively with students, faculty, and staff from a wide range of social, cultural, and academic backgrounds. The college is particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to the inclusive excellence of the academic community through their teaching and other assigned duties.
