Position description Oakes College at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an on-going pool of lecturers who may be appointed to teach courses to enhance the Oakes College curriculum under the direction of the Oakes College Provost. Enhancement courses contribute to the college's long-standing areas of strength, which are ethnic studies, community-engaged learning and the sciences from a social justice framework. Applicants should be able to draw from expertise in one or several of the major disciplinary subject areas (arts, engineering, humanities, physical and biological sciences, and social sciences). We are especially interested in applicants with the following areas of expertise: professional experience in social justice or public service organizations; expertise and teaching experience for student success; teaching experience (as the instructor of record) in higher education; a terminal degree in their disciplinary subject area; and/or a demonstrated record of working effectively with students, faculty, and staff from a wide range of social, cultural, and academic backgrounds. The campus is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the inclusive excellence of the academic community through their teaching and other assigned duties. Internal candidates will be given priority consideration.
