Job Description
INTRODUCTION
The School of Public Policy at the University of Connecticut seeks to fill a one-year position atthe rank of Visiting Assistant Professor starting in August 2026. The position may be renewable upon satisfactory performance and fundingavailability. The School of Public Policy is home to a Master of Public Administration (MPA), a Master of Public Policy (MPP), an MPAFellows program (an executive MPA cohort), and three graduate certificates in nonprofit management, public financial management, andleadership and public management. The School of Public Policy is located at the University of Connecticut's Hartford Campus inHartford, Connecticut, and offers courses in Hartford, Storrs, Stamford, and online. The School has 13 core faculty members and over 1,500alumni. The School's programs are ranked by U.S. News and World Report as 36th among public programs and 9th among public financeand budgeting programs. Founded in 1881, UConn is the state's flagship institution of higher education and includes a main campus inStorrs, CT, four regional campuses throughout the state, and 13 Schools and Colleges, including a Law School in Hartford, and Medical andDental Schools at the UConn Health campus in Farmington. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties ofthis Visiting Assistant Professor are primarily teaching, with some service to the School and University. The successful candidate will beexpected to teach graduate-level courses in applied microeconomics and policy analysis, as well as undergraduate and/or graduate courses inpublic policy or other areas of specialization within the School. Courses will be taught at the Hartford Campus, the main campus in Storrs,and online. Specific teaching assignments will be determined based on the needs of the School. The best candidates will also provide clearevidence of contributions to the diversity and excellence of the learning experience through teaching, and/or public engagement.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. in public administration, public policy, economics, political science, or arelated field. Candidates must demonstrate strong communication skills and the capability to teach applied microeconomics, policyanalysis, and program evaluation.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates who contribute throughresearch, teaching, and/or public engagement to the diversity and excellence of the learning experience. Candidates that have astrong record of scholarly excellence based on rigorous social science research methods.APPOINTMENTTERMS
This is a full-time, 9-month, temporary position with a start date of August 23, 2026. This one-year position may berenewable contingent upon satisfactory performance and funding availability. The successful candidate's academic appointment will be at theHartford Campus. Faculty will also be asked to teach at UConn's main campus in Storrs, or online, as part of their ordinary workload.
