Assistant Professor of Rhetoric, tenure-track position, to start in August 2027. The Writing Excellence Program at Eckerd College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Rhetoric. Applications welcome from candidates with specialization in Rhetoric of Science and/or Social Science. Seeking an applicant committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching and research within a liberal arts environment. Teaching will include 7 courses per academic year (3-1-3), including primarily 100-level composition courses, with some advanced composition and rhetoric courses. Additionally, participation in an interdisciplinary, values-oriented general education program is required, including regular rotation in two common core courses and a first-year seminar program. Candidates with experience in global perspectives, community-engaged learning, interdisciplinary teaching, and/or experiential learning are especially encouraged to apply. Eckerd College, the only independent national liberal arts college in Florida, has a tradition of innovative education and teaching/mentoring excellence. The successful applicant will demonstrate engaged and effective teaching and will be expected to maintain a research agenda that complements the Writing Excellence program.
