Assistant Professor in Human Development and Family Science (9 Month Salary) Department of Human Development and Family Science Anne Spencer Daves College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences Department The Department of Human Development and Family Science (HDFS) in the Anne Spencer Daves College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences at Florida State University invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-earning assistant professor position. We seek a colleague committed to research, mentorship, teaching, and advising. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in ongoing research in a well-defined scholarship area within the broad domain of human development and family science, with clear connections to human development (child, adolescent, adult or old age), family processes, family policy/programs, and/or relationship interventions. They will advise and mentor graduate students in the MS and Ph.D. programs, chair doctoral dissertation committees, contribute to academic service for the Department, College, and University, and apply for external funding to support and advance their research projects. Our programs focus on human development, family processes, and empirically supported relationship interventions. Specifically, our research, teaching, and service activities reflect our three program foci: Relational development and enhancement of children adolescents, young adults, couples, older adults, and families; distressed families and relational interventions; and the link between parenting and peer processes and relational and mental health outcomes. The Department also has a focus on health and well-being across the lifespan. Responsibilities Conduct quality research in the broad domain of human development and family science. Provide guidance, leadership, and mentorship to graduate students. Provide quality teaching to undergraduate and graduate students. Support the service needs of the Department, College, and University. Collaborate with and support Departmental Centers and Institutes, such as the Family Institute and the Center for Couples and Family Therapy. Qualifications Earned doctorate in a relevant area of study (e.g., family studies/science, human development, or psychology). A record of research accomplishments with the potential for extramural funding. Evidence of college-level teaching excellence. Preferred Qualifications Experience with or secured extramural funding. Experience at Research 1 universities. Ability to teach online, hybrid, and traditional modes. Demonstrated success working with all student populations. Considerations This is a Faculty position.
