Assistant/Associate Professor in Reading Education or Special Education (9 Month Salary) School of Teacher Education Anne Spencer Daves College of Education, Health, and HumanSciences Department The School of Teacher Education (STE) in the Anne Spencer Daves College ofEducation, Health, and Human Sciences (Anne's College) and the Florida Center for Reading Research (FCRR) at the Florida State Universityinvite applications for a nine-month, tenured or tenure-earning assistant or associate professor of Reading Education or Special Educationto start in August of 2027; however, the start date is negotiable. The position will involve teaching, research, and service within STE, andwill include a joint appointment with FCRR. The position carries a reduced teaching assignment with correspondingly high expectations forresearch productivity. The successful candidate will have a tenure home in one of two majors within
STE:
Reading Education or SpecialEducation. These majors work closely together in STE and FCRR, so a collaborative orientation is desired. The candidate will be expected tomaintain a rigorous grant writing and research program, including competitive externally funded research grants. The candidate will alsoteach undergraduate, masters, and/or doctoral level classes within their program, and train doctoral students through active participationin their research program. The candidate will also be expected to participate in university governance in the department, college, and FCRR,at a level that is commensurate with their rank. The candidate will join an interdisciplinary group of colleagues and students atSTE, Anne's College, and FCRR. Drawing from multiple disciplines, FCRR investigates all aspects of reading and reading-related skills acrossthe lifespan. Through rigorous and robust research, innovation, and engagement, FCRR advances the science of reading to improve learning andachievement from birth through adulthood.
