University of Georgia - Visiting Assistant Professor of Jewish History H-Net Job Guide

• 10/01/2026 Job Institution University of Georgia Institution Type College / University Department History / Religion Location Georgia, United States Position Visiting Assistant Professor The Department of History and Department of Religion at the University of Georgia invites applications for a one-year Visiting Limited-Term Assistant Professor of Jewish History, renewable for up to two additional years. The anticipated start date is August 1, 2027. A Ph.D. degree is preferred. Advanced Ph.D. candidates must be approved for a terminal degree exception before hire. This position will be a joint appointment in the Departments of History and Religion, with an undergraduate teaching load of four courses per academic year (two per semester). The successful candidate should have a documented record of teaching and an ability to offer courses in diverse areas, including, but not limited to fields such as American Jewish History (of any period), Global Jewish History, Holocaust Studies, Jewish migration, Modern Judaism, and Jewish-Christian Relations. The successful candidate will be expected to develop new course offerings that expand the Jewish Studies curriculum, as well as to assist with student and public event planning.
