OVERVIEW

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Iowa solicits applications to fill two tenure-track faculty positions at the assistant professor level. Prospective candidates are sought whose research focuses in areas broadly related to radiochemistry with an anticipated start date of August 18, 2027. Candidates with expertise in all areas of chemistry are encouraged to apply. Our search will prioritize applications from candidates who demonstrate they can: contribute to teaching and research in analytical chemistry and/or contribute to externally funded research collaborations within the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center . Given opportunities for collaboration with scholars in the Cancer Center in areas such as bioactive small molecules, diagnostic imaging, quantitative pharmacokinetics, and theranostics, candidates whose proposed future research aligns with these areas would be strong fits. The University of Iowa is a Big Ten institution with an enrollment of approximately 31,500 students. The Department of Chemistry currently consists of 25 tenured/tenure-track faculty members, 7 instructional track faculty, and approximately 120 graduate students. Excellent research facilities within the Chemistry department include dedicated radiochemical research spaces, a staffed glass shop, an electronics shop, and an abundant array of shared instrumentation. The UIowa campus also provides several well-equipped Core Research Facilities for fabrication, characterization, and analysis. Highly competitive salaries and start-up packages are provided. Department of Chemistry faculty maintain ties with national laboratories, state facilities, and industrial partners. There also exist numerous opportunities for collaborations with research staff and faculty in the highly ranked University of Iowa's College of Medicine, College of Engineering, and internationally acclaimed nuclear medicine within the Iowa Neuroendocrine Tumor (NET) SPORE team.

REQUIREMENTS

PhD in chemistry or closely related field. Postdoctoral experience or equivalent in an academic, government, national laboratory, or industrial setting. Potential for developing and leading a nationally prominent, externally funded research program as demonstrated by a promising record of scholarship and research productivity. Potential to be an effective and engaging educator for undergraduate and graduate students of chemistry. A commitment to engaging in team science and contributing to translational research.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience mentoring students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Experience working with biological systems.
