Assistant/Associate Professor of Theology

Job Description

Concordia University Chicago (CUC) invites applications for a full-time Theology Faculty position. The ideal candidate should hold a Ph.D./Th.D. in either Exegetical Theology, Theological Languages and must be an ordained and rostered member in good standing of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod or one of its partner churches. Candidates should have competency to teach courses in some of the following areas: Greek, Hebrew, Latin, Old Testament, New Testament, and Lutheran Theology. Special consideration will be given to candidates who can teach courses in multiple areas. Candidates should be willing and able to teach online courses as needed. Enthusiasm and competence for teaching both non-Christian and Christian students are required. It is desirable that the candidate has parish/pastoral experience and collegiate teaching experience.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Teach a 24 semester-hour load of basic and advanced undergraduate theology and/or theological language courses, including but not limited to one or more of the following areas: Either Introduction to Christianity or the Bible Old Testament or New Testament Systematic Theology Greek, Hebrew, or Latin Participates in scholarship and in service to the Theology Division, University and Church Service and Communications (Common to all employees) Exhibits a service mentality toward all stakeholders; Establishes cooperative relationships with a wide variety of campus constituents. Communicates with all customers in an effective, professional, and timely manner. Improves work performance and that of others by being receptive to and appropriately sharing information Candidates must support and be committed to the mission and identity of Concordia University Chicago, a university of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS).

Prior parish pastoral experience Minimum of 3 years of related teaching experience at the university or college level
