The applicant should be an artist-scholar specializing in printmaking. The candidate should understand aesthetics, visual literacy, the history of art, and contemporary issues in art as related to printmaking and fine art practices. Each semester, the candidate will teach two printmaking classes and one course in the department's general education curriculum. The full-time load (100% FTE) is 12 credit hours (typically four courses) each fall and spring semester, with one course reassigned time for scholarly and creative activities following university & campus policies. The successful candidate will teach three courses per semester, contribute to service, engage in scholarly/creative activities, mentor students, and use their expertise to teach fine art students, particularly those students with a concentration or minor in printmaking. The faculty member will also manage and maintain the printmaking studio. This position begins on August 1, 2027. The candidate will have the opportunity to apply for tenure in their 6th year of service. IU South Bend is the third largest campus in the Indiana University system and serves the north central Indiana community. The growing Fine Arts Department at IU South Bend currently includes B.A. and B.F.A. degrees in studio arts and art education. Basic Qualifications Required:

An MFA in printmaking or related studio art by time of appointment. Knowledge and ability to teach a variety of printmaking techniques that include but is not limited to relief, silkscreen, and etching. Effective oral and written communication skills.

Preferred:

Demonstrated potential for excellence in the areas teacher or studio practice. Experience in teaching as the faculty of record. Experience studio lab management. Ability to coordinate multiple sections and teach independent study students. Evidence of a strong commitment to ongoing professional development and creative studio practice. Demonstrated experience in mentoring students, including guiding involvement in extracurricular activities (e.g., advising of student clubs).
