Kim Dronett, HR Analyst/Recruitment / kdronett@mcneese.edu or (337) 475-5413 Assistant Professors are responsible for teaching 12 hours of coursework, advising, supporting various college initiative s including district partnerships, and completing other duties as assigned. Additionally, the assistant professor will perform the following responsibilities: Work closely with the Lead Site Coordinator to serve three major roles: (1) liaison between the university and partner school districts, (2) instructor for college courses and mentor teacher trainings, and (3) instructional coach for teacher candidates. Collaborate with the Department of Education Professions' Accreditation Specialist on major assessment data collection and analysis requirements to ensure continued state and national accreditation.
Required :
Earned a doctorate in education in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Curriculum and Instruction at the time of appointment Valid Teaching License including early childhood certification, grades Pk-3 or elementary education, grades 1-5 3-to-5 years of early childhood or elementary teaching experience Knowledge of and experience with Common Core State Standards or equivalent Experience working with high-quality curriculum Evidence of application of technology in the classroom Experience working with high needs students and/or traditionally underserved populations of students Experience with developing high-quality teachers/teacher candidates Louisiana Aspiring Educators Rubric (LAER) training or willing to complete Mentor Teacher certification within first year employed. This certification is required to fulfill the site coordinator portion of the job description.
Preferred :
Evidence of knowledge and implementation of co-teaching coaching practices including providing quality verbal and written academic feedback Evidence in supporting teachers/teacher candidates with implementing high-quality curriculum Evidence of leadership in professional development Experience with data-driven instructional decision making CLASS certified or willing to be certified within first year employed University teaching experience Knowledge of standard requirements: High Leverage Practices (HLP), Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC), Louisiana Teacher Preparation Competencies, and Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) Standards Evidence of collaboration with stakeholders, such as students, teachers, and districts/parishes. Prospective faculty submitting transcripts from foreign universities or schools must have the coursework evaluated for equivalency to United States-accredited coursework by a University-approved agency. The prospective faculty member is responsible for the cost of the evaluation.
