Job Description:
The Department of Biology at Worcester State University invites applications for a tenure-track position, to begin September 1, 2027. We seek an energetic educator and scholar to teach Human Biology and Human Anatomy and Physiology (A&P) courses for biology, nursing, and allied health majors and to contribute teaching and research expertise in other disciplinary-appropriate areas for our biology/biotechnology undergraduate majors. We welcome applicants with unique backgrounds and experiences that indicate their teaching and scholarship qualifications. Teaching and Leadership Responsibilities Teach lecture and laboratory courses in Human Anatomy & Physiology (A&P) tailored to nursing and allied health students and Human Biology for biology majors. Teach additional core biology courses and upper-level electives within the Biology and Biotechnology undergraduate curricula, especially courses related to human health (e.g. virology, immunology, human genetics). Serve as the departmental A&P Coordinator, providing curricular oversight and course management for the A&P instructional team. Provide high-quality academic advising and career mentoring to undergraduate students. Participate in departmental and university-level committee service.

Scholarship and Research Expectations Develop an active research program in a human health-related area of the life sciences (e.g., virology, immunology, physiology, pathology, or human genetics) that meaningfully incorporates undergraduate researchers.

Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. in human biology, physiology, virology, or another closely related human health/life science discipline conferred by August 31, 2027. Demonstrated teaching experience in Human Anatomy and Physiology. Clear potential to build an undergraduate-centered research program as demonstrated by postdoctoral research, prior student research mentoring, or other experience. Strong dedication to fostering an inclusive learning environment for students of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.

This is a full-time, benefited, exempt position. Salary is commensurate with experience and discipline, with a minimum established by the Appendix O of the MSCA contract.
