Job Description:
SUNY Broome Community College is seeking candidates for a 10-month, full-time, tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor/Instructor beginning in Fall 2026 in the Health Studies Department. Ten (10) month salary is spread over twelve (12) months to allow for consistent, uninterrupted pay periods. Benefits include, but are not limited to: Medical, Dental, and optional Vision and Flexible Benefit Plan. The department offers an A.A.S. in Health Studies, an A.S. in Health Science, and has a degree in Public and Community Health AS in development. The department currently offers two microcredentials and is positioned to expand its course and program offerings, including non-credit and additional microcredentials. The successful candidate should be willing to participate in course and program development across credit, non-credit, and microcredential offerings to support the department in meeting workforce needs, responding to current labor market demands, and addressing evolving student needs. The candidate should have direct clinical patient care experience and either prior experience with, or a willingness to learn upon hire, the use of instructional technologies to teach in multiple modalities, including the use of simulation in a laboratory setting. A background in public health is desirable, but not required. Preference is for candidates with CPR/First Aid instructor certification or a willingness to obtain instructor certification within six months of hire. The successful candidate will embrace a humanistic culture and learning environment while upholding the College Mission, Vision and Value Statements. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Didactic and clinical laboratory instruction, in various modalities. Course/program revision and development. Student advisement. Keeping abreast of program policies, procedures, and student progress. Maintenance of laboratory equipment and facilities; assisting with inventorying and ordering supplies. Active participation in course and program assessment processes. Committee assignments for the department and College. Engaging in outreach and enrollment events and activities. Staying up-to-date on professional disciplines and educational methodologies through ongoing professional development. Supporting the department chairperson and other faculty to ensure smooth and effective departmental and program operations.
Requirements:
The Assistant Professor position requires a Master's degree in an appropriate field, with either three (3) years of teaching experience, or an appropriate combination of teaching, relevant work experience, and scholarly activity. Additional coursework in an appropriate field is desirable. The Instructor position requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field. Individuals with less than a Master's Degree will be given four (4) years to secure an approved Master's Degree. Work experience in an area appropriate to the teaching field strongly preferred. Must be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship. Preference given for candidates with clinical patient care skills and experience and electronic health record/administrative experience.
Additional Information:
Salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. Assistant Professor The minimum annual salary for this position is $56,606.
Instructor:
The minimum annual salary for Instructor is $51,914. Offers of employment will be conditional based upon the results of a satisfactory, required pre-employment Standard Background Check.
