Job Description

Job Summary/Basic Function:
: The Department of Psychology at SUNY Potsdam invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position, to begin Fall 2026. The area of specialization is Counseling/Clinical/School Psychology. This position is open until filled.
Required Qualifications:
: PhD in Psychology or master's degree with more than two years of Counseling/Clinical experience. We are seeking candidates who possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues and who have demonstrated a commitment to creating, fostering and sustaining an inclusive environment in and out of the classroom.
Preferred Qualifications:
: Special preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching such courses as Abnormal Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Counseling Theories and Methods, and Drugs and Behavior at the college level. We are, especially, seeking candidates who have worked with, done research with, or taught under-represented groups and have worked collaboratively across various departments in fostering success of underrepresented groups. : The successful applicant will be prepared to teach a variety of courses within their area of specialization (i.e., Counseling Theories & Methods, Abnormal Psychology, etc.). The position will be .75 teaching and .25 Counseling Center service. Special Instructions to
