Oct 09, 2026 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time Description The School of Health Professions (SHP) at Stony Brook University invites applicants to apply for a faculty position in the Department of Applied Health Informatics. This is a non-tenure track, 12-month faculty appointment at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor. The position will be located at the Stony Brook University campus. This position will report to the Chairperson of the Department of Applied Health Informatics and will have responsibilities in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. Service responsibilities include but are not limited to advising and mentoring students, overseeing projects, providing service to the program, school, university, community and profession, and assisting the Chairperson with program review/accreditation efforts, alumni engagement, recruitment and retention, external giving, outreach and other assignments that contribute to program growth. In addition, the successful candidate will contribute to the ongoing creation and teaching of new course offerings in areas such as artificial intelligence, business analytics, and digital health that strengthen the program's curriculum and offerings. The School of Health Professions' Department of Applied Health Informatics offers a Master's degree in Applied Health Informatics that prepares students for careers in data analytics, AI, clinical information systems management, and project management required to successfully manage technologies run by health systems, payers, and technology companies to improve patient outcomes. Qualifications Required Qualifications:

Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) from an accredited institution in Data Science, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Decision Sciences, Information Technology, Computer Science, or closely related field. One (1) year of healthcare industry experience in data analytics, system development/implementation, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or related area. Experience with at least one of the following: programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, R, or similar); AI and machine learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn); mobile/web app development frameworks (e.g., React, Flutter, or similar); database tools (e.g., mySQL, MongoDB, or similar).

Preferred Qualifications:

Earned or ABD academic doctoral degree (foreign equivalent or higher- PhD, EdD, etc.) from an accredited institution in Data Science, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Decision Sciences, Information Technology, Computer Science, or closely related field. One (1) year of teaching experience in data analytics, system development/implementation, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or related area. Experience teaching in online modalities.
