Job Description:
The Laboratory Science Department at Jefferson Community College is seeking part-time adjunct faculty to grow our adjunct pool. Duties may include teaching lecture and/or laboratory assignments in any of the following courses: Introduction to Chemistry and General Chemistry. We are looking specifically for instructors to teach during traditional daytime hours, although there may be opportunities for evening hours. This posting is for a pooled position. If/when an adjunct position becomes available, the division and department will review applications from this pool and interview candidates with qualifications that match the need.
Requirements:
Instructors teaching in the department should have a master's degree in chemistry and/or related degrees and professional experience. In extraordinary cases, a bachelor's degree may be sufficient to fill a laboratory course vacancy. Applicants must interact and communicate effectively with diverse populations, foster inclusion, and promote equal access and treatment for groups traditionally under-represented in higher education

This is a pooled search. Jefferson Community College is seeking to develop a pool of qualified applicants. Applications will be accepted for the duration of the posting and will remain on file for up to three years. Qualified applicants may be considered for part-time teaching vacancies as they occur. The College determines the need for adjunct instructors based on course offerings each term, and it is not possible to predict staffing needs for future semesters. When an opening does occur, selected candidates will be contacted for an interview. Each laboratory course is usually 3 contact hours, and each lecture course is usually 3 credit hours. Level A - $665/credit hour Level B - $785/credit hour after teaching 6 semesters at Jefferson.
