Full-Time Faculty:
Assistant Professor, Chemistry DeSales University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Chemistry at the Assistant Professor level, beginning Fall 2027. We seek a collaborative educator-scholar with expertise in analytical chemistry and instrumentation who is committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching, mentoring, science outreach, and to the development of a sustained undergraduate research program. The successful candidate will contribute to a department focused on student-centered learning, hands-on scientific training, and undergraduate research. Responsibilities Teach undergraduate courses in general and analytical chemistry as well as instrumental analysis, including laboratories Develop, maintain, and actively use shared instrumentation resources in both teaching and research Establish a productive undergraduate research program, mentoring and involving students in independent and course-based research Contribute to curriculum development, program assessment, student advisement and departmental initiatives Engage in service to the department, university, and broader community Participate in faculty development opportunities and attend conferences Requirements Ph. D. in Chemistry or closely related field Demonstrated expertise in analytical chemistry and chemical instrumentation Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentoring Clear ability and commitment to developing and sustaining an undergraduate research program Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching at the undergraduate level Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, or managing instrumentation Experience mentoring undergraduate students in research Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate STEM education and outreach

The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry is located in the Priscilla Payne Hurd Science Center. Our facilities are well-equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation supported by college-controlled endowments. Instrumentation includes a 60-MHz teaching NMR spectrometer, thermal analysis (STA, bomb calorimetry), UV-Vis and fluorescence spectrophotometers, multiple UV-Vis and IR spectrometers, a magnetic susceptibility balance, as well as other chromatographic (GC-TCD, GC-MS with FID and headspace sampler, HPLC, FPLC), electrochemical, and biochemical instrumentation. University endowment funds are available to provide start-up support for new faculty and continued support for research endeavors.
