Job Description:
The Department of English and Humanities at DCC invites applications for part-time faculty in English. The department is searching for instructors to teach one or more of the following courses: ENG 101•Composition I (3 contact hours/week)
ENG 101/003
•Composition I with Composition I Module (6 contact hours/week) ENG 102•Composition II (3 contact hours/week) Courses are taught in Traditional/In-Person, Hybrid, and Asynchronous online instructional modes. In-person classes take place at our main campus in Poughkeepsie and our DCC@Fishkill location, the Center of Excellence for Business, Industry, and Innovation (COEBII). Courses are held in the daytime and the evenings. Part-time faculty teach assigned class material in accordance with learning objectives developed by the department.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications Master of Arts in English or related field. Official transcripts required upon hire. Experience teaching at the college level. Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching at a community college. Experience working with developmental writers. Demonstrated competencies in a variety of teaching methodologies and/or pedagogical approaches that reach a broad range of learners. An understanding an appreciation of the role of the community college in higher education. Experience in using instructional technology in the classroom and a willingness to adopt new and emerging technologies. Experience and familiarity with a learning management system (LMS) such as Brightspace, Blackboard, or Canvas. A commitment to diversity and an understanding of how diversity impacts learning and instruction.

Working Conditions:
The performance of this work is done primarily in-person and on-site or remote, depending on instructional mode. Courses are held at the main campus in Poughkeepsie and at COEBII at DCC@Fishkill. Courses are held in the daytime and the evenings.
Classification:
Dutchess United Educators (DUE), Part-Time Educator Part-Time faculty positions are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between Dutchess Community College (DCC) and Dutchess United Educations (DUE).
Salary:
At negotiated rate, starting at $1,499 per contact hour (Instructor, Step 1)
