Job Description

Newberry College invites applications for a visiting Assistant/Associate Professor of Chemistry beginning in August 2026 .Candidates need to have the education, skills and experience to teach Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and our General/Organic/Biochemistryentry-level course. Additional Forensic experience or knowledge is a plus, but is not required. The successful candidate should be able toengage students through personalized pedagogy to be active participants in their learning, help the students build confidence in theirintellectual abilities, and develop alternate strategies to help students grasp the material. Position is contingent on available funding.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The position includes 12-15 credit hours per semester of chemistry courses (lecture andlab), including CHE 105 General, Organic, and Biochemistry, BIO/CHE 301 Introduction to Biochemistry, and
BIO/CHE 401
Advanced Biochemistryand Molecular Biology. Responsibilities include teaching courses, ordering lab materials, managing and running course labs, maintainingstudent office hours on campus, and assisting programs and colleagues to support student success.
EDUCATIONAL OR OTHER HIRINGREQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION
An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) degree in Chemistry. ABD or master's candidates with significantteaching experience will also be considered.
