Description:
King University invites applications for a full-time appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor of Chemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences beginning in August 2027; with potential to start August 2026 or January 2027 depending on candidate availability. ABD candidates encouraged to apply. King University is a Christian liberal arts institution located in the picturesque foothills of East Tennessee and values free expression and respectful dialogue in a spirit of Christian love and inclusiveness. King University maintains a collegial faculty from a cross-section of Christian traditions. Students and faculty members often develop deep connections with one another. Although primarily a teaching institution, King recognizes research accomplishments in faculty evaluation. King students often go on to graduate and professional schools. Applicants should be professing Christians who can articulate their faith and its influence on the vocation of teaching the discipline.
Minimum Qualifications :
Applicants should be ABD or possess the Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or a closely-related field and have the ability to teach General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and other upper-level chemistry courses. Applicants should exhibit an enthusiasm for teaching and an interest in supervising undergraduate research.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. degree in Chemistry with a focus on Organic Chemistry, one or more years of full-time teaching experience, and experience leading undergraduate research.
Responsibilities:
The appointed applicant will teach courses and laboratory sections for majors and non-majors, design and revise courses, contribute to program evaluation, participate in student advising and mentoring, and hold at least five office hours per week. Participation in university committees, campus life, and community service is also expected.
