Job Description

Job Description The Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music at the University of Memphis invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Oboe, beginning Fall 2027. The successful candidate will be an artist-level performer and teacher with a proven record of recruiting and student success. Responsibilities Teach applied oboe lessons, reed making, and pedagogy at the undergraduate levels. Coach chamber ensembles. Actively recruit, mentor, and retain oboe students; maintain an active and engaged studio. Collaborate and perform with the School of Music faculty. Teach coursework in an additional area (e.g., music theory, music history, etc.). Maintain regional., national, and international visibility through performing and teaching engagements. Serve on and/or chair doctoral committees. Qualifications Master's degree in oboe performance (or closely related field) required; doctorate preferred Demonstrated excellence in teaching applied oboe at the college level Extensive experience as a soloist, chamber musician, and/or orchestral musician Ability and desire to teach in an area outside of oboe
