Job Description The Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering at Tennessee State University invites applications for a 9 month, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position in Structural Engineering, with an anticipated start date of Spring 2027. Candidates specializing in Structural Engineering with a background in Architectural Engineering will be given the highest priority.
We seek an outstanding scholar with a strong background in Structural engineering who is enthusiastic about collaborative, transdisciplinary research and deeply committed to Undergraduate and Graduate instruction and specialized graduate education. Primary teaching areas include all areas of Structural Engineering. The successful candidate is expected to engage with external partners across local, regional, and federal agencies and industry to build productive research and educational collaborations. Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Structural Engineering and Architectural Engineering.
- Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
- Develop and maintain a sponsored research program.
- Publish research results in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings.
- Provide service to the department, college, and university, and engage with industry and professional organizations.
Minimum Qualifications An earned Ph.D. in Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline. The candidate must be qualified to teach courses in the Architectural Engineering core curriculum and demonstrate college-level teaching and research capabilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Knowledge of ABET accreditation processes.
- Professional Engineer (P.
E.) licensure or eligibility to obtain P.E. is preferred.
