Assistant Professor of Classics University of Texas at Austin - 4.2 Austin, TX Job Details Tenure track 7 hours ago Qualifications Doctor of Philosophy Full Job Description Description The Department of Classics at The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin in the fall of academic year 2027-28. We seek a Romanist working in the Republican period, with specialization either in history (particular areas of interest include political, military, or social history) or language/literature (particular areas of interest include poetry, world literature, pedagogy, or critical theory). In addition to actively researching and publishing, responsibilities include providing administrative and committee service to the department, directing undergraduate honors theses and eventually Ph.D. dissertations, and teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Classics. Duties will include contributing to the department's Latin instruction at all levels and teaching in the core curriculum (particularly in "Western Civilization"). Qualifications Applicants must have completed all the requirements for the Ph.D. by time of appointment, or they must expect to obtain the Ph.D. within a year of joining the faculty as Instructor.
