This is a tenure-track position, with rank negotiable based on experience.

This faculty member will play a central role in leading and developing the University's History major while also engaging students across awide array of science & technical disciplines. This individual will spearhead efforts to integrate historical knowledge with communicationand analytical skill development for students majoring in fields such as engineering, aviation, and computer science. This is anine-month position with the possibility of summer teaching. Classes and other responsibilities are conducted primarily on weekdays butcould include some evening classes and independent studies. Attendance is required at some evening and weekend events.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Teach a full-time load of courses in History, including preparation of course materialsand assessments. Teach a wide variety of courses across the curriculum from freshman to senior level with a four course (12 hour)load per Fall and Spring semester typically consisting of three lower-level and one upper-level course per semester. Offer engagingintroductory courses that build foundational historical knowledge and essential communication and analytical skills. Teach a rangeof courses that may include, depending on expertise and program needs, foundational survey courses in US and Westernhistory. Develop upper-level courses that deepen students' understanding of historical themes and align with their academic andvocational interests. Provide strategic leadership in re-envisioning the role of the humanities within a Christian Polytechniccontext. Participate actively in the university learning community by serving on department, school, and/or university committeesand special service assignments. Participate in student advising, success, and retention programs. Commitment to academicscholarship in the field of expertise.

QUALIFICATIONS

The candidate must be in genuine agreement with theUniversity's Statement of Faith and Community Covenant for life and work at LeTourneau. An earned doctorate (Ph. D.) in History,from an accredited university or in a closely related field. Candidates who are ABD with an estimated conferral date before May 2028 may beconsidered. Preferred specialization in U.S. History, though strong candidates in related fields will beconsidered. Demonstrated teaching competency Interpersonal skills to effectively and professionally interact with students,colleagues, and administrators in a university learning community The successful candidate will be able to think creatively andcritically about the essential role of the humanities (and writing, in particular) within the "Christian Polytechnic University" mission andprovide leadership for efforts to fully infuse the humanities within the learning environment and campus culture of LeTourneau University.

This includes developing communication and analytical skills in students majoring in technical fields such as engineering, aviation,computer science, etc.
