This is a tenure-track position, with rank negotiable based on experience. Thisfaculty member will teach a range of education courses with an emphasis on literacy, elementary education and specifically the Science ofTeaching Reading. The ideal candidate should have excellent team-building skills and the interest and experience to provide growth to theSchool of Education. Research and teaching experience are highly desired. The position is for nine months, with the possibility ofsummer teaching. Classes and other responsibilities are conducted primarily weekdays but could include some evening classes and independentstudies. Attendance will also be required at some evening and weekend events.
Responsibilities:
Teach a full-time loadof courses in reading, literacy and elementary education courses involving preparation of course materials and assessments Teach avariety of courses across the curriculum from freshman to senior level with a four course (12 hour) load per Fall and Springsemester Participate actively in the university learning community by serving on department, school, and/or university committeesand special service assignments Participate in student advising, success, and retention programs Commitment to academicscholarship in the field of expertise
Qualifications:

D.) froman accredited university or in a closely related field Ability to teach full range of reading/literacy and education courses withexpertise in the Science of Teaching Reading; experience leading and developing Reading Academies is a plus Hold valid Texas teachercertification with certification(s) in EC-6 and/or 4-8 (applicants with out-of-state teacher certification must be eligible to apply forTexas teacher certification) Capacity to communicate subject material using contemporary methods Prior significant (PK-8)teaching experience Have a proven ability to relate to students and faculty Willingness to work co-operatively andcross-disciplinary in teaching Additional English as a Second Language and Reading Specialist certifications a plus
