• 09/14/2026 Job Institution Texas Tech University Institution Type College / University Department Department of History Location Texas, United States Position Assistant Professor The Department of History in the College of Arts & Sciences at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor in the history of Modern South or Southeast Asia to begin September 1, 2027. The area of specialization is open, but we will prioritize candidates working on the post-1800 period who are well suited to our department's needs. The successful candidate will be expected to publish peer-reviewed research and teach World History survey courses, as well as advanced undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of expertise. As a faculty member in the Department of History, you will be expected to: contribute to the teaching mission of the department mentor graduate students develop a record of peer-reviewed research and scholarly engagement pursue research funding as opportunities allow provide service to the department, college and university
Required Qualifications:
A completed PhD in South or Southeast Asian history or closely related field, obtained by September 1, 2027 Established track-record of peer-reviewed research in the field of South or Southeast Asian History A strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching
