Assistant Professor of Political Science in American Politics The Department of Political Science in the Prothro-Yeager College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Midwestern State University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure track, Assistant Professor, to begin in Fall 2027. As a faculty member in the Department of Political Science, you will be expected to: 1. Develop and teach courses in the field of American Politics 2. Teach 12 credit hours/4 courses each semester 3. Regularly teach core courses in American national government and Texas government 4. Develop a record of research and scholarly activity 5. Advise and mentor undergraduate students 6. Engage in service at the department, college, and university levels Required Qualifications 1. PhD in Political Science or closely related field (ABD considered with expected completion by the start date) 2. Expertise in the field of American Politics 3. Demonstrated teaching effectiveness 4. Evidence of potential for strong scholarly research Preferred Qualifications In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply: 1. Commitment to undergraduate education 2. The ability to teach courses areas that would add to the Department offerings, such as public administration, public policy, research methods, social movements, political behavior, political psychology, political communication, or any additional subfield. 3. Interest in collaborative research with colleagues and/or students 4. Interest in leading student groups such as Moot Court, Mock Trial, Model UN, or similar groups.
