Job Description

Summary:
Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts (VCUarts) Cinema Program is recruiting a pool of applicants on an ongoing basis for adjunct teaching positions. The Cinema Program will consult the adjunct applicant pool and contact qualified applicants whose credentials match our specific teaching needs on an as-needed basis. Given these criteria, this pool will only be assessed when an adjunct opportunity arises. Possible adjunct opportunities could include teaching a course(s) in any of the areas of study offered by the Cinema Program. A link to course descriptions from VCU's Undergraduate Bulletin can be found athttps://bulletin.vcu.edu/azcourses/cine/ Adjunct faculty are expected to be thoughtful and proactive members of the Cinema community and have a desire to work collaboratively with other adjunct instructors, students, faculty and staff from all background and experiences. If an adjunct opportunity arises, only those selected for an interview will be contacted. Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional level filmmaking experience on large
  • and small-scale movie projects.
  • Prior teaching experience.
  • Ability and desire to mentor and support student film projects. Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience as a professional filmmaker and/or expertise in support areas (i.e., G&E, camera operator, sound design, art direction, producing, directing, production design, editing, etc).
  • MFA, MA in a related field, orBFA, BAwith additional training and/or professional experience that equates and/or parallels the artistic development expected in a terminal degree holder.
  • Strong oral presentation and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
