The Department of Natural Sciences at the University of Charleston invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank ofAssistant or Associate Professor to teach various biomedical science courses, including Human Anatomy and Physiology lecture and laboratory,in support of undergraduate students majoring in Biology, Nursing, and other Allied Health and Health Science majors. The Biology Programserves students in the following concentrations: General Biology, Conservation Biology, Biomedical Sciences. This nine-month appointment isscheduled to begin on August 9, 2027. We are seeking an instructor with college-level instructional experience who can teach anatomyand physiology content to students with diverse backgrounds and who has a documented record of providing students with innovative andengaging classroom experiences. The successful candidate also will have the opportunity to teach biology electives in his/her area ofexpertise. Preferred candidates will have experience teaching embryology, developmental biology, immunology, or other biomedical scienceelectives.
Essential Responsibilities:
Develop and teach courses at the undergraduate level in the areaslisted above Teach courses face-to face in Charleston, WV and online formats The candidate must be able to communicateeffectively and work cooperatively with colleagues All faculty are expected to advise students, serve on university committees, andmaintain currency in the field The successful candidate will be encouraged to conduct biological research withundergraduates
Qualifications:
A Ph. D. in Biology or related area is preferred, but MS withexceptional records will be considered Prior college teaching experience preferred Good communication skills areessential Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
