Communications Adjunct Faculty About Onondaga Community College:
Onondaga Community College, located in Syracuse, NY, is a college of the State University of New York (SUNY) system and one of 30 locally sponsored community colleges throughout New York State. Onondaga County is our sponsor. We offer two-year degree programs that serve as transfer opportunities to baccalaureate degree programs at four-year campuses or for direct entry to the workforce. Job Description:
The Art, Communication, Media & Music Department at Onondaga Community College is accepting applications from qualified individuals to teach Communication Studies in-person at our location in Syracuse. The ideal candidate will be able to instruct courses, utilize the learning management system (D2L | Brightspace), and engage students in meeting the course learning outcomes.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
The Art, Communication, Media, & Music Department is seeking adjunct instructors qualified to teach one or more of the following courses: Introduction to Communication (COM 100), Public Speaking (COM 210), Interpersonal Communication (COM 220), and Intercultural Communication (COM 282). If the candidate has experience within the field of social media and public relations, they may have the opportunity to teach Introduction to Social Media (COM 110) and Introduction to Public Relations (COM 233). Often, classes taught in the middle of the day need to be filled. All classes will be taught face-to-face on our Syracuse campus.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree (or higher) in Communication Studies or a related field (i.e. Public Relations, Broadcast Journalism, Journalism, Telecommunications, Media Communications, Marketing & Data Analytics, Social Media Studies, Rhetorical Studies) from a regionally accredited college, university or foreign equivalency.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to those with experience teaching at the community college level. Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and other languages will be considered.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
The ability to encourage student success is essential to teaching at Onondaga Community College.
Additional Information:
Adjunct rate of pay for the 26/27 academic year is $1,527/credit hour. Classes will be assigned on an as needed basis dependent upon enrollment. Adjuncts are eligible to participate in the NYS Teacher's Retirement System. To apply, visit http://sunyocc.interviewexchange.com/jobofferdetails.jsp?
