Information Technology Instructor

The Information Technology Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, supporting student achievement, and contributing to the continuous improvement of the Information Technology program at the College's Scottsbluff campus. Assignments may include teaching at other campuses as needed. A variety of IT courses are taught across multiple modalities, including face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats. Courses include, but are not limited to: IT Technical Support, Hardware Support, Networking Essentials, System Administration, Cybersecurity Essentials, Ethical Hacking and Network Defense. The instructor develops and maintains curriculum aligned with industry standards and emerging technologies, supports student learning and career pathways, and contributes to program and institutional effectiveness. Assignments may include teaching at multiple campuses as needed. This 175-day position would begin duties on/around August 10, 2026. Deliver instruction in assigned Information Technology courses, which may include technical support, hardware support, programming, networking, system administration, cybersecurity, ethical hacking, and related areas. Develop, update, and maintain course materials, including syllabi, assignments, assessments, and instructional resources aligned with course objectives, student learning outcomes, and industry standards. Facilitate student learning through lectures, labs, hands-on activities, and applied learning experiences using effective instructional strategies. Provide instruction in multiple delivery formats, including face-to-face, online, and hybrid modalities. Create and maintain an inclusive, respectful, and engaging learning environment that supports diverse student populations. Assess student performance and maintain accurate and timely records in accordance with institutional policies and procedures. Provide timely, constructive feedback and academic support, including holding regular office hours and offering guidance on academic and career pathways. Participate in curriculum development, program review, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure alignment with workforce needs, transfer pathways, and accreditation standards. Engage with advisory committees, industry partners, and professional organizations to maintain program relevance and currency. Participate in departmental meetings, institutional committees, and college initiatives. Conduct assessment of student learning outcomes and implement improvements based on data and findings. Maintain current knowledge and skills in the IT field through ongoing professional development and industry engagement. Support departmental operations and contribute to the growth and quality of IT programs. Perform other duties as assigned. Education:

Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field required.

Experience:

Required experience includes applying advanced computer and information technology concepts, including technical support, networking, cybersecurity, programming, and systems administration; effectively communicating complex technical information to diverse audiences; organizing, planning, and delivering instruction or training; using instructional technologies and learning management systems; working with individuals from diverse cultural, social, and educational backgrounds. Preferred experience includes teaching in higher education, particularly in a community college setting; 3+ years of industry experience in IT or related fields; assessing student learning outcomes; and training in adult learning theory (andragogy).

License or Certificate:

Industry-recognized certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) preferred. Possession of, or the ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record that does not exclude the driver from coverage under WNCC's vehicle insurance required. Work is primarily performed in classroom and office environments, including computer labs. Duties require frequent sitting, standing, and walking; use of hands and fingers to operate computers and instructional equipment; and clear verbal and written communication. The position may require occasional lifting of equipment up to 25 pounds. Vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to view computer screens for extended periods. Work may involve extended periods of concentration and the use of instructional technologies in a dynamic academic environment.
