A Computer Science Professor teaches foundational computer science ideas, truths, and methods to students through a combination of classroom instruction, lab experience, and assignments at colleges, trade schools or other institutes. May assist or lead in the creation of the computer science curriculum to be taught. In addition to instruction, they may assist or lead in research initiatives relating to their field.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Teach networking courses and hands-on labs in areas such as routing, switching, network security, virtualization, and cloud technologies. Develop and maintain curriculum, course materials, labs, and assessments aligned with College requirements and current industry standards. Maintain and configure networking lab equipment, software, and virtual environments to support instruction. Assess student performance, provide timely feedback, and maintain required academic records. Advise and mentor students regarding academic progress, career opportunities, and industry certification pathways. Utilize instructional technologies and learning management systems to support face-to-face, hybrid, and online learning. Participate in curriculum development, program assessment, accreditation, recruitment, and continuous improvement activities. Maintain current knowledge of networking technologies, industry certifications, and effective teaching practices. Participate in departmental and institutional meetings and professional development activities. Adhere to Alvin College policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate degree or higher in Networking, Computer Science, IT, or related field OR equivalent industry certifications Three (3) years of hands-on experience in networking roles such as: Network Administration/Engineering Routing & Switching (Cisco, Juniper) Cloud Networking (AWS, Azure) Network Security (Firewalls, IDS/IPS)
