Dean, Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences University of New Haven West Haven, CT TheUniversity of New Haven invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice andForensic Sciences. This is an extraordinary opportunity for an innovative and collaborative leader to advance one of the nation's mostrespected colleges in criminal justice, forensic science, national security, and public service education. The HCLC enjoys a nationalreputation as a leader of education in a variety of fields from forensics and criminal justice to fire science and emergency management.
These comprehensive and highly ranked programs integrate theory and practice to best prepare students to be effective and successful in theconstantly evolving areas of justice, safety, and security. HCLC's programs have also been recognized by U.S. News and World Report in itsannual Best Colleges listings, and top employers for graduates include the FBI, the State of Connecticut, the Police Department for the Cityof New York, the Department of Justice, and LabCorp. The Dean will have the opportunity to build upon the College's longstandingeminence, providing visionary leadership to further increase visibility and its mission of excellence in public service education. Reportingto the Provost, the Dean will continue to cultivate innovative new programs and focus on engaged experiential learning to prepare studentsfor the ever-expanding, technologically dependent, and increasingly challenging world of public service. The successful candidatewill be a dynamic and strategic academic leader with a deep commitment to student success, faculty excellence, and diversity and inclusion,as well as to the University's mission to prepare students for purposeful and fulfilling lives in a global society. It is preferredthat candidates have an earned doctorate in one of the disciplines of the Lee College or a related field (such as, but not limited topsychology, sociology, law, public administration, or biochemistry). An impressive research background-including publication inpeer-reviewed journals and grant-funded research-is a plus. However, candidates with an advanced degree coupled with professional experiencein law enforcement, government, national security, the military, and related non-profits are encouraged to apply if they have deepadministrative leadership experience.
