Commensarate with experience Position Summary The Automotive Department at St. Louis Community College is seeking adjunct instructors to teach Auto/Deisel courses for the 2026-2027 academic year.

• This is an onsite, in-person position located in the St. Louis, Missouri area. Candidates should apply only if they are able to be physically present and available to work onsite by the start date
• The adjunct instructor will teach Automotive or Diesel courses to a diverse student population.

These courses may be offered during the day and evening. The responsibilities and duties of the instructor may change as the needs of the department and courses offer change. Adjunct Faculty are part-time faculty members who provide high-quality instruction in assigned courses in accordance with approved course outlines, departmental standards, and College policies. Adjunct faculty focus primarily on teaching and student learning and are responsible for maintaining instructional quality, academic integrity, and a supportive learning environment. Assignments are course-based and may vary by term, modality, and campus. Primary Duties Performed Adjunct Faculty duties and responsibilities normally include: -Utilize departmental syllabus template, approved textbooks, and supplemental course materials.

• Submit personalized course syllabus to the Program Chair in electronic format one (1) week prior to course start date.
• Distribute and review comprehensive course syllabus to students no later than the first week of the course.
• Adhere to printed course schedule meeting times and locations.
• Maintain grade book in electronic or hard copy format.
• Take and record student Attendance each day.
• Give final exam at the time and date indicated on the college's Final Exam Schedule.
• Respond to e-mails from students, staff, and college administrators in a timely manner while classes are in session using assigned college designated e-mail.
• Attend campus-wide and department professional development and/or trainings as appropriate.

Adjunct Faculty may also be expected to: Participate in required orientations, training, and instructional meeting. Complete required compliance training, including but not limited to FERPA and Sexual Misconduct training. Coordinate with department chairs, program coordinators, or full-time faculty regarding course content and expectations. Implement department-approved textbooks, course materials, and assessment practices Maintain current knowledge and skills in the instructional discipline. Adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs within the scope of the assigned course(s). The College reserves the right to assign other normal instructional responsibilities as may be appropriate for part-time faculty. Qualifications/Experience Associate degree in automotive technology, 2 years related field, or equivalent industry training with an ASE certification in area of instruction.

PREFERRED

Bachelors' degree in a related discipline and ASE Master Certification with G1. Working Conditions Classroom, laboratory, or online instructional environment May require travel between campuses or instructional sites

Physical Requirements:

Negligible to moderate physical activity, which may include standing for extended periods, light lifting of instructional materials, and use of standard classroom or computer equipment.
