No Position Summary Information Job Description Summary Primary duties of full time faculty include teaching courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning oues identified for the assigned courses, as well as recruiting, advising, and mentoring students in and outside of the classroom. The faculty member creates and maintains an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned, be they face-to-face, hybrid, online, or within the context of dual credit instruction. Full time faculty members are also responsible for participation in professional development activities, serving on collegemittees, developing and updating curriculum, textbook, equipment selection and instructional materials. Faculty members are expected to maintain familiarity with and ad to College policies and prores. Qualifications All faculty members must meet Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) academic, oral and written English proficiency requirements. All full time faculty members must demonstrate a willingness and abilities to teach day, evening and/or weekend classes in face-to-face, hybrid, online, and dual credit environments. Required Education All faculty members must possess minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) credential standards which normally include a Master's degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in the teaching discipline. Preferred Education Required Experience Ten years of full time experience with a municipal, state or federal law enforcement agency. Preferred Experience Curriculum development and course delivery at a college level. As Department Chair, this position requires:- Prepare and teach courses in the field of Criminal Justice to a diverse student population based on the department's approved course learning oues, utilizing a variety of instructional strategies appropriate to the needs ofmunity college students and the standards of the discipline.
- Develop class scles, hire adjunct faculty, and address student concerns regarding instruction, grades, and other academic concerns.
- Engage in recruitment at career fairs, high schools, and other industry opportunities.
- Participate actively in departmental responsibilities and departmental governance, including curriculum development, review and revision, program development, review, textbook selection, equipment needs, assessment of student learning oues at the course and program level, and other departmental activities.
- Assist with THECB approval process from non-credit to credit programs, collaborate with Corporate Services for industry training, and leadership of the law enforcement academy, fire program and academy, criminal justice, and emergency services area.
- Provide instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning oues identified for the assigned courses. As well as, create and maintain an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned, be they face-to-face, hybrid, online, or within the context of dual credit instruction.
- Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback reflecting program learning oues and departmental expectations.
- Provide teaching and mentoring services to students in a manner which does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, age, protected veteran status, political affiliation, or other protected categories.
- Remain current in the field through a variety of professional development activities.
- Support division and department goals through active and collegial engagement in decision-making and unit-level planning including assessment of student learning.
- Serve on college wide and departmentalmittees, councils, work groups, and task forces.
- Appropriate use of the college's learning management system.
- Meet deadlines for attendance certification and submission of final course grades.
- Participate in graduation, general assembly, and other official college functions.
- Maintain regular office hours to assist students and improve student retention and success.
- Attend and participate in college wide, campus, department, or other activities and meetings. Recognize and reflect standards of civility and collegiality in all interactions.
- Comply with published college policies and prores and meet professional standards for teaching in amunity college.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the coordinator, director, dean, and/or vice president.
