Instructional Coach, Literacy (Anne Arundel) (Fixed - Term) 2026-09-17 Amplify all cities,
AK Description:
Instructional Coach, Literacy Amplify is seeking an Instructional Coach, Literacy with a background in teaching, coaching, and/or school leadership to join our Professional Development (PD) team as a fixed-term employee for Anne Arundel County School District for the 2026-2027 school year. The Instructional Coach, Literacy, will support educators on-site up to four days per week, with the fifth day dedicated to planning and preparing to meet educators' needs. The Instructional Coach may also support the Amplify Professional Development team on department-wide initiatives during periods when Anne Arundel County schools are closed but Amplify remains open (e.g., teacher workdays, holidays, winter and summer breaks, school cancellations, etc.). This support may include designing and/or delivering PD for other districts during the summer or other school closure periods. In this role, you will collaborate with district/school leadership and the Amplify Literacy Professional Development Strategist assigned to the district/school to determine the strategy, focus, and coaching approach for different times of the year. You will also partner with district/school leadership to adjust course, as needed, with an eye toward improving student outcomes. An outcomes-centered orientation and the ability to pivot based on district priorities and implementation needs are necessary for this role. The Instructional Coach's daily responsibilities will be determined in partnership with their manager, aligned to the district's goals and priorities throughout the year. Specific areas of focus may include: Lead classroom observations and provide feedback to teachers and leaders to strengthen implementation of Amplify's Literacy suite and improve student outcomes Conducting model lessons and co-teaching alongside classroom teachers Support unit and lesson planning with grade-level teams and/or individual teachers Leading lesson study cycles for teachers Providing recommendations to school leadership designed to enhance outcomes and equity of learning for diverse student populations, including students with learning and thinking differences and English Learners Facilitate Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) for leaders and/or teachers, including supplementary office hour consultations Support data analysis and instructional planning with grade-level teams, individual teachers, and reading leaders Analyzing student work and formative assessment data to support instructional decision-making and responsiveness to learner outcomes Cultivate model classrooms to elevate and replicate best practices in planning and instruction In addition to these coaching responsibilities, the Instructional Coach will also: Proactively seek out feedback and adapt practice based upon the feedback and what is leading to improved student outcomes Create or customize professional development experiences, as needed Facilitate district-wide professional development sessions (in person and remote), as needed, for leaders and teachers Minimum qualifications include: Passion for literacy and deep knowledge of the science of reading and writing Experience leading sustained instructional coaching engagements and professional development for educators in grades K-5 or 6-8. 5+ years of K-5 or 6-8 Literacy teaching experience, leading to demonstrable results for students Experience working on collaborative projects with leaders and teachers Experience in guiding teams of educators through change management processes Experience analyzing data and using it to inform practice Proven efficacy in time management while managing multiple engagements and competing priorities Strong oral and written communication skills Demonstrated proficiency with technology-based productivity tools, particularly Google Workspace Able to travel locally (up to 4 days per week) across the Anne Arundel County area to support educators Preferred qualifications include: Knowledge of Amplify CKLA or experience teaching Amplify CKLA 10+ years of K-5 or 6-8 teaching and leadership experience resulting in demonstrable student outcomes Ability to support educators in a remote learning environment, if needed Master's or Advanced Degree in
Education Location:
This position requires that the Instructional Coach, Literacy is permitted to work in the US, have residency in the US, and possess a valid US driver's license. The Instructional Coach must reside in or near Anne Arundel County Public Schools and/or be able to travel locally (up to 4 days per week) to support educators across the district. The Instructional Coach may be asked to facilitate professional development sessions throughout the country based on business needs during school closures or if the district contract concludes earlier than anticipated.
Travel:
Local travel is required and considered an essential job function. Car mileage and related expenses for professional development delivery are reimbursed in accordance with company expense policy.
