Job Description
Job Title Instructional Mentoring Coach - Temporary Job Code TM-108 Job Grade Teacher's Schedule Job Goal To provide coaching and support to the district's educators as part of a teacher induction program that support new teachers in the effective use of curriculum materials and tools, instructional strategies, and teaching practices to increase student performance and achievement. Reports To Talent Management Director Supervises None Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provides personalized support to teachers and principals at an assigned school by planning, collaborating, organizing, mentoring, and facilitating change to support new teachers. Facilitates instructional mentoring professional development and professional learning communities. Disaggregates, analyzes, and monitors student learning outcomes and other assessment data to assist teachers and principals with interpreting information and developing targeted methods for improving program effectiveness. Collaborates with district and school staff to review program work and provide input on program quality, consistency, and alignment. Presents demonstration lessons, coaching sessions, and instructional workshops to teachers on an individual and/or group basis to clarify information, model effective practices, promote teamwork, and improve learning outcomes. Monitors data of mentoring work and impact to inform next steps and support for new teachers. Participates in the sharing of best teaching and assessment practices with groups of new teachers across the district. Demonstrates appropriate use of technology and other instructional tools and resources to enhance and extend instruction. Maintains research-based knowledge in state and national current trends and best practices within curriculum and instructional practices; reviews current developments, literature, and technical sources of information; and utilizes knowledge to ensure ongoing improvements are implemented. Participates in a variety of approved professional development programs, including peer observations, in-service activities, training workshops, inquiry sessions, etc., and serves on various teams when appropriate. Communicates effectively with teachers, principals, Curriculum Coordinators, Curriculum Specialists, and other HCS staff to promote a comprehensive and collaborative approach to enhancing instructional techniques. Collects and maintains proper documentation (i.e., student files, various records, confidential data, coaching logs, coaching data analysis etc.) for the purpose of recording activities, providing reliable information, and ensuring compliance with applicable guidelines and regulations. Demonstrates the highest standards of honesty, integrity, flexibility, and responsiveness.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications A Bachelor's Degree in Education from an accredited university with five (5) years of successful classroom teaching experience. Must possess and maintain a valid state teaching certificate. Physical Requirements Requires light work exerting up to ten (10) pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently. Requires travel between school sites. Terms of Employment Ten month year. Salary as recommended by the Superintendent and approved by the Board.
