Job Description

POSITION
Education Coordinator

$25.00- $30.00 (DOE) Up to 30-Hours - Part-Time
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Education Director, the Education Coordinator assists with the management and daily operations of the Education Department. The Education Coordinator supports the implementation of department goals and objectives, assists with staff supervision, develops and monitors program budgets, coordinates educational and youth activities, and develops annual schedules and program plans for review and approval by the Education Director and Tribal Administrator. The Education Coordinator serves as a mentor and resource to Hopland Tribal youth and works collaboratively with Tribal departments, families, community partners, schools, and outside agencies to support educational and youth development goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Administration 1. Assists the Education Director with the daily administration and operation of the Education Department. 2. Develops annual and monthly program plans, activity schedules, and staffing calendars for review and approval by the Education Director and Tribal Administrator. 3. Monitors program activities to ensure they are implemented in accordance with approved goals, objectives, schedules, policies, and procedures. 4. Identifies program concerns and areas for improvement and develops and implements appropriate action plans. 5. Maintains accurate and organized department files, records, and documentation. 6. Provides monthly program updates and progress reports to the Education Director. 7. Travels as necessary to accomplish program and Tribal goals and objectives. Budget, Purchasing, and Inventory 8. Develops, monitors, and maintains program budgets in coordination with the Education Director. 9. Manages department purchasing activities in accordance with Tribal fiscal policies and procedures. 10. Maintains accurate inventory records and monitors department supplies, equipment, and program materials. 11. Provides required financial information and documentation to the Tribe's fiscal departments. Grant Administration and Development 12. Assists with the administration and monitoring of department grants, including required documentation, compliance, and reporting. 13. Assists with researching, developing, writing, and submitting grant applications to support Education Department programs. 14. Identifies potential funding opportunities and alternative funding sources for education and youth programs. 15. Collects and analyzes program data needed for grant applications, reports, evaluations, and funding requirements. Youth Education and Development 16. Supports the planning and implementation of educational, recreational, cultural, and youth development activities. 17. Serves as a mentor and positive role model for youth. 18. Develops educational and activity curricula for review and approval by Tribal Administration. 19. Provides or coordinates tutoring and academic support in classroom, small-group, and individual settings. 20. Promotes positive behaviors, values, and learning practices that support the individual needs and learning styles of youth. 21. Identifies youth needs, concerns, and opportunities and communicates appropriate information and resources to parents or guardians. 22. Chaperones field trips and youth activities as needed, including activities requiring overnight travel. Staff Supervision and Coordination 23. Supervises department staff as assigned by the Education Director. 24. Provides direction, guidance, and support to assigned staff to promote effective program operations. 25. Conducts staff meetings as requested by the Education Director. 26. Assists with the completion and processing of annual employee performance evaluations. Community and Interagency Coordination 27. Coordinates Education Department activities with Tribal departments, schools, families, community organizations, and outside agencies. 28. Attends Education Committee meetings as requested. 29. Assists with Tribal, community, and nonprofit events as assigned. 30. Maintains positive and professional working relationships with Tribal members, youth, families, community partners, schools, and service providers. Tribal Culture and Community Values 31. Incorporates knowledge and respect for Tribal history, culture, traditions, and community values into education and youth programming. 32. Supports activities that promote Tribal identity, cultural awareness, community involvement, and positive youth development. Professional Standards and Confidentiality 33. Maintains professional conduct and positively represents the Tribe when performing job duties. 34. Maintains strict confidentiality of Tribal, personnel, youth, family, financial, and program information during and after employment. 35. Exercises sound judgment and maintains appropriate professional boundaries when working with youth, families, employees, Tribal members, and community partners. 36. Maintains a professional appearance appropriate to the position and work environment. 37. Maintains a flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and overnight activities, as required by program needs. 38. Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS 1.
Associate's degree in Education, Healthcare, Human Services, or a related field with experience in program management; OR a High School Diploma or GED equivalent and five (5) years of experience in education or program management. 2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 3. Ability to follow directions, exercise sound judgment, prioritize assignments, and work effectively with limited supervision. 4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships. 5. Knowledge of and familiarity with the local Indian community, including its history, culture, and traditions. 6. Knowledge of basic tutoring principles and practices and the ability to support students in classroom, small-group, and individual settings. 7. Ability to respond to inappropriate behavior in a firm, respectful, and positive manner. 8. Ability to maintain a professional appearance and conduct appropriate for working with youth, families, Tribal members, and the community. 9. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately. 10. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight activities, as required by program needs. 11. Possess a valid California Class C Driver's License and be insurable for auto insurance
LANGUAGE SKILLS 1.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including the ability to prepare reports, correspondence, presentations, policies, procedures, and other department-related documents.

Ability to resolve problems and conflicts in a professional, diplomatic, and tactful manner. Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and program requirements to operational situations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level is usually low to moderate. The employee must be able to work in a busy and demanding environment where a high degree of concentration, professionalism, and attention to detail is necessary.
