JOB SUMMARY
The Instructional Coach partners with classroom teachers, school administrators, and the Director of Teaching & Learning to improve instructional practice and student achievement. Grounded in Colorado Academic Standards (CAS) and aligned with the district's strategic plan, the Instructional Coach provides job-embedded professional learning, data analysis support, and evidence-based instructional strategies. This role requires expertise in adult learning, a deep understanding of Colorado's educator evaluation framework (SB 10-191), and a commitment to equity-centered teaching practices.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructional Support & Coaching
  • Provide individualized and small-group coaching cycles for teachers across content areas and grade levels.
  • Model effective lessons, co-teach, and offer reflective feedback grounded in research-based instructional frameworks (e.g., Marzano, Danielson, UDL).
  • Facilitate the analysis of student work and assessment data to drive differentiated instructional decisions.
  • Support implementation of Colorado Academic Standards (CAS) and district-adopted curricula.
  • Assist teachers in developing culturally responsive and inclusive classroom environments. Professional Learning & Collaboration
  • Design and facilitate high-quality, job-embedded professional development aligned to school and district improvement goals.
  • Lead or co-lead Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and collaborative teacher teams.
  • Stay current on research-based instructional practices, state initiatives, and CDE guidance.
  • Build a culture of continuous improvement and reflective professional practice. Data & Assessment
  • Support teachers in understanding and using summative, formative, and diagnostic assessment data.
  • Support the District Instruction & Assessment Coordinator in the standardized administration of all district and state assessments.
  • Facilitate data team meetings and guide data-driven instructional adjustments.
  • Track coaching cycles, teacher engagement, and impact on student outcomes. Leadership and Communication
  • Collaborate with building principals and district leadership to align coaching work with school improvement plans and the district strategic plan.
  • Maintain confidentiality and trust with all staff; serve as a non-evaluative resource.
  • Communicate regularly with administrators regarding trends in instructional practice (without identifying individual teachers).
  • Participate in district curriculum committees, adoption processes, and instructional leadership teams.
REQUIRED
  • Valid Colorado Educator License (CDE) — Teacher or Special Services license.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of successful classroom teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Colorado Academic Standards and effective instructional practices.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build trusting, positive relationships with adult learners.
PREFERRED
? Master's degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field. ? Coaching endorsement or formal coaching training. ? Experience facilitating professional development and leading PLCs. ? Familiarity with Colorado educator evaluation system (SB 10-191 / RANDA or equivalent platform). ? Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Deep knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional coaching models, and change management.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools, student information systems (e.g., Infinite Campus, PowerSchool), and instructional technology.
  • Ability to differentiate coaching support based on teacher experience and instructional needs.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across multiple classrooms or buildings.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and culturally sustaining pedagogy.
