Aug 17, 2026 Position Summary The Early Literacy Coach is a grant funded position that builds K-3 educator capacity to deliver explicit, systematic, and evidence-based reading instruction. This position is funded through the state Early Literacy Grant (ELG) . The primary goal is ensuring all students achieve reading competency by the end of third grade, in strict alignment with the Colorado READ Act (HB 12-1238) . This role uses a non-evaluative coaching model to support teachers in adult learning environments. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesInstructional Coaching & Implementation Facilitate coaching cycles: Partner directly with K-3 classroom teachers through modeling, co-teaching, observing, and providing non-evaluative feedback.

Implement Structured Literacy:

Support teachers in executing evidence-based, scientifically-grounded reading programs across core, supplemental, and intervention tiers.

Differentiate teacher support:

Customize professional development based on individual teacher experience and needs. Data-Driven Decision Making Analyze literacy assessments: Guide teachers in analyzing DIBELS and other CDE-approved assessment metrics.

Target student interventions:

Assist staff in identifying students with Significant Reading Deficiencies (SRDs) and creating diagnostic-driven remediation plans.

Monitor progress:

Oversee and maintain school-wide multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) literacy data. Grant Compliance & Professional Learning Collaborate with consultants: Partner with external state literacy consultants to align building goals with CDE expectations.

Lead professional development:

Design and deliver school-based workshops focusing on the Science of Reading .

Attend mandatory state training:

Participate in all CDE-required training, ELG network meetings, and webinars.

Promote family literacy:

Organize community and family literacy nights aligned to grant parameters.

Qualifications and RequirementsEducation and Licensure Valid Colorado Teaching License:

Required.

CDE K-3 READ

Act Designation:

Must be fully completed or explicitly met prior to employment.

Preferred Education:

Master's degree in reading, early childhood education, elementary education, or a related field.

Experience and Knowledge Teaching Experience:

Minimum of 3-5 years of highly effective classroom teaching experience in primary grades (K-3).

Science of Reading Background:

Demonstrated expertise in explicit, systematic instructional design and adult learning theory.

Preferred Certifications:

Prior completion of LETRS training or Structured Literacy training (e.g., Orton-Gillingham, Wilson).

$47,613.00 - $87,628.00 per year
