Wellness Education Specialist This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Cross City Correctional Institution in the Education Department. JOB DUTIES

Plans, runs, and oversees wellness education and recreational programs for inmates, including classroom activities and organized events. Supervises inmates during activities and ensures security coordination with medical and security staff. Assesses inmate participation and interests, using this information to set goals and plan programs that support their social recovery. Maintains and tracks wellness equipment and supplies through regular monthly and quarterly inventories. Writes reports on inmate behavior when needed and organizes special events, including visits from outside groups for cultural and recreational activities. REQUIREMENTS

A high school diploma or its equivalent One year of professional experience in conducting recreational activities or health/wellness. Correctional experience can substitute for one year of the required work experience. Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.

SCREENING REQUIREMENT

The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
