Agency Information:
The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) is an executive branch agency in charge of operating and regulating the use of state parks, state lakes, recreational grounds, wildlife areas and sanctuaries, fish hatcheries, natural areas, historic sites and other lands, waters, and facilities for the promotion of public health, safety, and for the use and pleasure of visitors. The agency is also charged with the development and conservation of wildlife and the natural resources within the state. The agency oversees 29 state parks, 500 miles of trails, approximately 460,301 acres of leased or owned public lands, management of four hatcheries, and four nature centers. To meet our mission, projects, and goals, KDWP employs approximately 466 full time employees and up to 350 temporary employees, throughout the state, with diverse and varying skillsets. The largest agency office is the Operations Offices in Pratt, Kansas. The Office of the Secretary is maintained in Topeka, Kansas. There are four Regional Offices located in Topeka, Wichita, Hays, and Dodge City; six District Offices in Kansas City, Chanute, Colby, Fort Scott, Garden City, and Mound City; and a Research Office located in Emporia, Kansas. Various wildlife, public land, and parks offices are located across the state. The agency is primarily funded through license fees, grants and federal funds that are provided through the Pittman-Robertson and Dingell-Johnson Acts. About the Position Who can apply:

Position Summary & Responsibilities Position Summary:
This unclassified , full-time position is located in the Education Division and is directly supervised by the Education Division Director. The primary duty location will be determined depending on the successful candidate. Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for directing all aspects of the aquatic education areas of focus including statewide coordination of the aquatic education program, which includes sportfish education, boating education, aquatic ecology education. Plans, coordinates and conducts instructor orientation and in-service training events to include agency and program policy/procedure updates. Develops and maintains in-person and online training materials for instructors and establish a feedback/communication channel to evaluate its effectiveness. Administers and manages program planning and USFWS federal aid grant and is responsible for maintaining all documents and databases relating to federal funding and federal aid requirements. Facilitates or assists assigned coordinators / administrators in: hunter education, fur harvester education, bowhunter education, shooting sports (the National Archery in Schools program; the Student Air Rifle program; shotgun shooting sports; rifle shooting sports), Becoming an Outdoors Woman and R3 outdoor engagement events.
Qualifications Education :
High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Licensing & Certification :
A valid driver's license and the ability to pass a background check are required.
Minimum Qualifications :
High School diploma or GED equivalent. Two years of experience in providing direction necessary to implement the objectives of an agency, program or organizational unit. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant to the agency.
Preferred Qualifications :
Four years of work or study in education or natural resources is preferred. Public speaking and classroom presentation skills, along with proven writing skills and abilities are a plus. Preferred applicants will have experience with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), video capture, editing and production and training materials. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and a background in outdoor recreation, wildlife, hunting and shooting .
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements :
This position requires the use of a firearm for live-fire instruction, hunting and simulated hunting situations. Candidates cannot have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor domestic violence crime as set forth in 18 U.S.C.
