Hiring Agency Justice & Public Safety Cabinet | Department of Corrections Location 374 New Bethel Church Road Fredonia, KY 42411 USA Description The Department of Corrections (DOC) mission is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non- criminal behavior. The DOC provides an opportunity for inmates to acquire skills through educational programming. The education programs include communication skills, general education, basic academic skills, GED preparation, special education, vocational education and post secondary education. Western Kentucky Correctional Complex is seeking a Corrections Education Specialist I, this position plays an essential role for the institution by providing targeted instruction services to the inmates housed at the facility. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Providing instruction through use of an approved curriculum. Administering assessments. Preparing lesson plans. Maintaining student and academic records. Preparing reports reflective of student work and progress. Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in education (academic).
