DESCRIPTION
This position is accountable for assuming the responsibility for delivering high quality instruction in the areas of library and technology education at the elementary level (grades K
  • 4). Instruction uses a project-based learning approach that embodies creativity, resourcefulness, and sound judgment consistent with the curriculum frameworks, standards, and the rules and regulations of the Billerica Public Schools
  • Plan and deliver high-quality project-based learning units that integrate library and technology resources
  • Motivate and engage students in learning
  • Focus student learning on critical thinking, skillful research, and ability to synthesize and evaluate information
  • Utilize culturally responsive pedagogy to ensure inclusivity and diversity are prioritized
  • Maintain and develop the library collections in multiple schools
  • Prioritize the diversification of library materials to ensure book collections offer a wide representation of people
  • Collaborate with other LITE teachers and classroom teachers to support student learning and development
  • Maintain communication with families as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • MA DESE certification in Library/Media
  • Strength in designing and organize instruction around project-based learning
  • Strong content knowledge of the curriculum frameworks
  • Ability to establish a positive and focused classroom learning environment for students
  • Ability to work collaboratively toward program and district goals
  • Understanding of culturally responsive pedagogy and the importance of diverse representation in library materials.
