Job Description

Company Overview Su Escuela Language Academy is dedicated to fostering bilingual and multilingual education for children from infancy through middle school. Since its founding, the academy has expanded its programs and locations, emphasizing innovative teaching methods and inclusive learning environments. Overview This position will lead SELA's Special Needs support approach across classrooms by:
  • Providing direct support and guidance to teachers working with children who need additional developmental/behavioral/learning supports
  • Serving as a mentor teacher and point person for best practices, documentation, and consistency
  • Helping families navigate next steps when outside services are needed (Early Intervention / Early Guidance, evaluations, therapies, etc.)
  • Supporting the school team in understanding and implementing plans aligned with IEPs and related evaluations (as applicable)
  • Support the school as an administrative role Key Responsibilities Mentor & coach teachers on classroom strategies, accommodations, and inclusive practices Support students using evidence-based approaches (structured routines, visual supports, behavior supports, sensory strategies, communication supports) Help create and maintain practical tools: checklists, routines, behavior plans, classroom logs, and family communication templates Collaborate with Directors, teachers, and families to identify concerns early and create clear support steps Support coordination with outside providers (with parent permission), and guide families on seeking evaluations/services Participate in meetings and contribute to documentation related to student support planning Promote a calm, respectful, approach aligned with SELA values and immersion model Create and collect data Meet with directors and executive director with monthly reports and progress of students that can be struggling in some areas Skills/Requirements Strong knowledge of special education principles, including IEP development and implementation Experience (2-3 years) in special education / special needs settings (day school, specialized program, inclusion support, or similar) Experience with Autism (ASD) across early childhood and/or school-age Familiarity with IEPs, evaluation processes, and common assessments/observations (school-based or clinical) Confident collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and communicating professionally with families Organized, proactive, and comfortable building systems (not just "putting out fires") Bachelor's degree in Special Needs Education Preferred Qualifications•Spanish speaking (conversational or fluent) strongly preferred; comfortable in a bilingual/immersive environment•Experience coaching adults (mentor, teacher, lead, coordinator, supervisor•Background in early childhood settings (infant/toddler/preschool) plus school-age experience Join us to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young learners by providing inclusive education that empowers children to reach their full potential!
