Aug 27, 2026 Job Description The role of the Special Education Reading Specialist is to provide high quality instruction, support and collaboration in order to produce high quality outcomes in the area of Reading and Literacy for the students in the Uxbridge Public Schools with disabilities. This position is considered "district-wide," with a caseload that may include students in more than one building from one year to the next. This position reports to the PPS Director, and is supervised and evaluated by the PPS Director. The Reading Specialist provides and/or assists with the identification and evaluation for students during the evaluation of any student who may have a disability (in accordance with state/federal guidelines and as identified in district practice), implementation of a multi-sensory systematic reading program/curriculum that is grounded in an evidence-based methodology for students with identified disabilities in the applicable areas of concern establishing individual reading goals for students, including measurable benchmarks and methods of data collection, consultation for special educators and general education teachers to implement additional supports in the classroom collaborates with teachers in all departments to promote the learning and implementation of best practices in literacy instruction. creates and examines data to measure the success of literacy programs and instruction teach targeted literacy intervention to individuals or small groups of students daily using research-based strategies and resources. review student achievement and assist with placing students in appropriate reading and writing intervention and support services, as appropriate, through collaboration with Team Chairs and building administrators. Other duties as assigned and applicable to the role.Position Type:
