QUALIFICATIONS
Must hold a valid elementary teaching certificate with proper endorsement Must have a master's degree, preferably in reading/literacy, math, education or educational leadership Five years successful teaching experience at the elementary level Demonstrate mastery understanding of curriculum Strong leadership abilities Possess leadership credibility with teaching staff Excellent written and verbal communication skills Willing to attend and/or conduct after school meetings Willing to attend training programs or curriculum meetings as needed, including during the summer Exhibit the emotional stability and physical stamina necessary for meeting the requirements of the position The following are strongly preferred: Experience in instructional leadership preferred Reading specialist endorsement (state code BR) Experience coaching staff with instructional practices Reading and Math Recovery trained Cognitive Coaching trained Strong understanding and experience with math and reader's workshop
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Build and monitor positive confidential relationships with teachers and MTSS teams Provide leadership and expertise in literacy, mathematics, instructional practices and curriculum Modeling and co-teaching with classroom teachers using methods of best practice Regularly observe literacy instruction in the classrooms and collaborate with the principals to develop coaching plan to help teachers improve their performance Provide training and support in the areas of data analysis, best practices and lesson development Help teachers implement curriculum with fidelity Regularly observe instruction in the classrooms and help teachers improve their performance through meaningful feedback and continued support Harvest and curate data and facilitate data meetings to identify, monitor and exit students in the Tier 2 interventions based on literacy and math proficiency growth Facilitate classroom learning labs Provide leadership and expertise in language arts curriculum implementation using the reader's workshop model Provide guidance regarding a range of effective and innovative literacy and math practices Communicate with and support teachers and support staff implementing MTSS intervention program Provide professional development to teachers and parapros The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District. Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance. Perform other duties as assigned.
